Wicked Rogaines is thrilled to announce the upcoming Australasian 24hr Rogaining Championships (also the New Zealand 24hr rogaining championships), set to take place in the Lake Tekapo region from the 16th to the 17th of December 2023. The event’s HQ is Glenmore Station, 20min drive from Lake Tekapo.

This exciting event offers participants a chance to immerse themselves in a true wilderness adventure while making a positive impact. Alongside the challenging 24-hour championship event, there is also the Wicked Lake Tekapo Rogaine Festival with 15-hour, 6-hour, and 3-hour non-championship options, catering to participants of all levels.

The Lake Tekapo region provides incredible terrain perfectly suited for rogaining enthusiasts. Its diverse landscapes include flat and rolling hills, pristine tarns, and steep/ technical alpine country, ensuring an awesome experience for all participants. But what truly sets this location apart are the fantastic views of the iconic lake and mountains

In addition to the excitement of the event, it’s worth noting that the Australasian Rogaining Championships at Lake Tekapo are also a fundraiser for Lake Tekapo School, Lake Tekapo Bright Stars Community Trust and Red Cross, organizations dedicated to community education and opportunities. By participating, you not only challenge your limits but also make a very worthy contribution and welcome impact to Tekapo and its residents.

Events Options.

24HR CHAMPIONSHIPS – This is the premier event which will take place over 24 hours with teams of two to five people. The event doubles as the New Zealand and Australasian 24hr Championships, which sets the scene for an intense trans-tasman contest. Rogainers, Orienteers Adventure Racers and Outdoor Enthusiasts they will all be there!

Perfect training for longer adventure races, like Expedition Races and True West.*

15HR EVENT – This is a ’15hr roving’ competition. Your team can spend a maximum of 15 hours on the course in total and must spend 9 hours back at the HQ (so you can get a nice sleep and go back out in the morning). The 15hr on course can be spent all at once or in multiple blocks of time adding up to 15hrs.*

6HR EVENT – Social event for people training for shorter events

3HR EVENT – For families, newbies and the local community.

*Camping on Saturday night is included in your entry.
